Disappointment for Manthey Porsche at the Nurburgring 24 hour
The Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid, in the hands of Jorg Bergmeister, Marco Holzer, Richard Lietz and Martin Ragginger, and run by Manthey, led the race overnight and into the morning, but suffered first a blown manifold, and then a blown engine.
Marco Holzer: Jörg Bergmeister just stranded on the track. The engine has stalled. So far, we don’t yet know why. Possibly it’s the result of another problem we encountered earlier. A truly bitter retirement after having held the lead for such a long time
Manthey’s lead car of Timo Bernhard, Marc Lieb, Romain Dumas and Marcel Tiemann–looked like the race’s most likely winner early on, but lasted only seven hours after a spinning car collided with it.

An impressive performance from the standard 911 GT3 RS piloted by Roland Asch, Patrick Simon, Horst von Saurma and Chris Harris, finishing 13th overall. The car was allegedly driven to the track from Porsche HQ in Stuttgart.
